Does anyone know if a person can get medical insurance after going through drug rehab?

My son went through drug rehab a year ago and is doing very well. Has not fallen at all and has set some goals for your quality of life and hunting. It’s only 21 years and is currently in training and can not afford his own health insurance at this point in time, but I would anticipate that for him. Does anyone know if you’re eligible because he has a history of drug abuse?
