BORN IN A BARN ON THE FOURTH OF JULY – Will Henson
A song I wrote five years ago. A little song about a simple life verses the complications of society. Written by Will Henson. www.myspace.com myspace.com myspace.com This song actually has some weird aura around it, at least for me. I wrote it back in 2002 for the “Chickenman” show and as I first filmed it, Charles wore a 70′s pork pie hat and glared menacingly at me about a half-a-foot away while I tried not to crack up. The second time I filmed it in Sep. 2005 was for the debut of the Ed Stanley show, I made the mistake of sending a copy to my parents. My mother was horrified by the lyrics, and was very upset that people were gonna think the lyrics were autobiographical. My Dad, on the other hand, who was suffering the last stages of Alzheimer;s disease, and hadn’t recognized me in years, apparently laughed uproarously at the song, and requested Mom to replay it over and over again. She said it was the first time she’d seen him laugh like that in years. While I was filming this particular version you see here, two deer had silently approached me out of nowhere while I was singing this, and were within twenty five or thirty feet behind. It is a shame that they weren’t in the camera shot. I guess they liked the song. They of course took off as soon as I reached for my camera to film them.
