One of the most commonly used ingredients in acne treatment products is benzoyl peroxide. It is found in almost all rub-on treatments available over the counter like creams, lotions, cleansers and acne defense sticks. Since it is employed as a topical or rub-on treatment, it does not guarantee complete acne cure.
If you suffer from mild or moderate acne trying out some good-quality external treatment products is the first thing you should do. They prove to be effective for many people and do not cause many side effects. Same is the case with products that contain benzoyl peroxide.
However, continued use of this chemical may cause irritation or skin rash. It should not be applied if your skin is suffering from wounds or cuts. It also causes dryness and flaking in some people and therefore if you have dry skin you should use it very carefully.
Benzoyl peroxide works by killing the bacteria that are responsible for acne in most cases. If an acne treatment contains this chemical you can be assured that it is safe and will not cause any serious side effects or damage to your skin.
Some people may experience itching, swelling and slight burning. If these symptoms occur you are advised to see a doctor immediately. It is also advisable to avoid other topical treatments as well as beauty products to be used on skin that is being treated with benzoyl peroxide. These products may render it ineffective.
Most of the people who have used creams and lotions containing at least 2.5% benzoyl peroxide have given positive feedback about its performance. With the exception of those who are allergic to this chemical, it can be used to treat a moderate case of acne in people of all ages.
For those who suffer from regular acne breakouts and are frustrated because of this problem, we suggest a thermal acne device known as Zeno acne clearing device. This hand-held electronic device clears away pimples in a matter of hours and because of this reason it is the fastest acne treatment known to date.

Cause
Acne may be worsened at adolescence, during the pre-menstrual and/or mid-menstrual cycle due to hormonal action, and when under stress, on contraceptives, eating a poor diet that causes an over acidic system, or taking prescription and non-prescription drugs.
Blackheads can form when the oil combines with skin pigments and gets trapped. Blackheads may suggest the need for better hygiene, or magnesium and vitamin A. Chronic, numerous whiteheads can also form during acne outbreaks, suggesting vitamin B1 deficiency or absorption problems. Consistent raised spots on the outside of the arms and sometimes even the thighs, resembling "chicken skin," may suggest need for magnesium, vitamin A, or essential fatty acids or the need to avoid foods that inhibit the absorption of these nutrients, such as trans-fatty acids found in margarine and hydrogenated oils, such as cottonseed oil and palm kernel oil.
Food allergies, allergies to facial creams, soaps, shampoos, makeup, and excess intake of refined sugars, can all cause or contribute to acne. Certain foods can also aggravate acne conditions because of their high-acid forming effects on the body, especially fried foods, trans fats, iodized salt, alcohol, hot and spicy foods, all processed foods, chocolate, fruit juices, carbonated beverages, caffeinated beverages, and dairy products. Excessive long-term intake of seafood or other high iodine foods may also cause acne in some people.
Coexisting gum problems suggest the need for folic acid. A separate acne condition may occur in women 30-40 years old due to physical exercising or working all day with face makeup, lowered resistance due to stress, or hyper-response to bacteria or hormone problems. Another acne problem, acne rosacea (reddish spots in a pattern over nose and cheeks), may be a sign of low B vitamins or low hydrochloric acid in the stomach.
Ways to cure
1. Blood Purifying: If we are just beginning a cleansing and healing program, we experience problems. Very common is acne, which is most often a manifestation of an unclean bloodstream. Red clover tea is an excellent blood-cleanser, with a very mild taste. Burdock root tea works fast and well to cleanse the bloodstream. Carrot juice, very pleasant to the taste, cleanses and builds good cell structure. Many families drink green drink, consisting of fresh greens, such as comfrey, parsley, mint, lambs quarters, marshmallow (that is, common mallow), your dandelion and other local greens, blended into a base of pineapple juice in a blender. At first you may wish to strain out the pulp, but it is good for you too, and soon you should become accustomed to it. Some people make a green drink by simply blending the wildings into water, straining out the pulp and sweetening a bit with pure maple syrup or honey. This green drink supplies vitamins, minerals, enzymes, and healing factors in a fresh, assimilable form.
2. Soap and Astringents: If you want to treat your acne externally, be aware that it's not an external problem. I would recommend very sparing use of soaps, which is contrary to most advice on acne. Soap removes the protective oil from the skin and upsets the acid-alkaline balance. Only use soap if your skin is really dirty; otherwise, wash with water. Instead of using thick makeup, which must be soaped off, let your natural healthy glow illuminate your skin. There are mineral-based blush powders which have no chemicals in them; they can be used as blush and as eyeshadow; just make sure when you purchase them that they really have no chemicals, as some cosmetic companies are mimicking the idea but including additives.
Some people recommend astringents to control large pores on oily skin. First of all, your skin won't produce excess oil if you follow the mucusless diet. Although you will be taking adequate oils in your diet, they are in a form assimilable by the body. Probably the worst "junk food" anyone can take is hydrogenated oil–margarine, hydrogenated peanut butter, shortening. These oils have undergone a chemical change which makes their structures unusable by the body. They clog up the digestive tract and bloodstream and cause many problems, including that oily skin that troubles you! Eliminate them from your diet, replacing them with natural oils (olive, safflower, almond, sesame–there are many choices). You'll see a real difference in just about a week.
As for the large pores, astringents only help for a little while, as they fill the pores with moisture, seeming to close them. But after a short time, the pores return to their normal size. A good diet, plenty of steam-distilled water, exercise, and the consistent use of the blood cleansing herbs mentioned above, will help tighten those pores. In the meantime (and perhaps just for fun) you can make some astringent lotions to apply to your face. Rub some strawberries on your skin and splash them away with water! Squeeze the juice from a cucumber and do the same. Tomatoes, raspberries, and zucchini all gently tone the skin. You can make a "green drink" for the complexion, blending comfrey, fennel, geranium, lavender, marigold, nettles, peppermint, sage or yarrow (any one or combination of these) with pineapple juice to make a thick, thick mush. Put them on the face, containing them with a piece of gauze if necessary, and lie down for a half-hour or so. Rinse off and notice a glowing skin.
Good old-fashioned witch hazel (the distilled herb preserved with some alcohol), which you can still purchase at most pharmacies, is known for its skin-toning abilities. You can combine it with fresh or bottled (unsweetened) apple juice, adding a little rubbing alcohol to preserve. This fresh-smelling astringent is cheap enough for everyday use, but nice enough to bottle in a small container and give as a gift.
3. Aloe Vera: This penetrates the skin quickly and deeply. This allows water and other moisturizers to sink deeply into the skin, restoring lost fluids and replacing the fatty layer. It permits the uronic acids, which strip toxic materials of their harmful effects, to penetrate deeply and allows the cleansing astringent qualities of the gel to work better. By increasing the circulation of the blood to an area, Aloe Vera sloughs off dead cells and fosters the growth of new ones. This helps foster the regeneration of scarred or blemished skin tissue and provides a protective coating on the skin to prevent the growth of harmful bacteria. This antiseptic action also stops skin infections (acne) in oil-clogged pores. It heals blemishes with little or no scarring. This accounts for the multitude of cosmetic preparations these days contain Aloe Vera.
4. Liniment of Peppermint: This was used in the past to reduce varicose veins, and clear up acne, boils, abscesses and eczema. To do so, heat 1 pint of pure olive oil, and add to it 1 dram (teaspoonful) of oil of Peppermint, 1 dram, menthol crystals, and 1 dram of flowers of camphor. Mix in a warm jar or bottle, shaking until dissolved. Let stand until cool, then keep in a cool place.
5. Bowel and Blood Purifiers: Dr. Christopher emphasized that we need to know the source of our problems. Perhaps our toxic condition begins with a poorly functioning bowel which should be taken care of with the Lower Bowel Formula. But suppose a person has a case of boils or acne. The Red Clover combination should be used about three times a day, six days a week for six weeks. Then you can switch to another blood purifier such as burdock or chaparral or Brigham tea. Then switch back to the Red Clover combination.
O.K. Do as he says, not as he shows. You should always wash your hands first – your face doesn't need extra germs rubbed onto it.
Benzoyl peroxide is not an antibacterial agent, it is bacteriostatic. It attacks bacteria, which have no superoxide dismutase, because it is a powerful oxidant. BTW, you are offering a diagnosis of a medical condition, and could be sued for offering advice on treatment options. Advice is ok, but dont offer percentages and dosage information for drugs. In the eyes of the medical board, you are diagnosing and recommending treatment. I read about a guy in my home town how got sued for the ame thing
i would stop using it if i were you, i had the same problem and i think it was because the benzoyl peroxide dries the skin out and strips the skins natural oils as well as excess sebum. So your skin has to overcompensate for the lack of oil/moisture by producing more oil than it was before. either that, or try using a basic oil free moisturiser for dry/sensitive skin
what about adaphalene cream?-
hmmm…. i use it every night
yes it helps but, not that strong…
what can you say about that
i’m from philippines.. thanks! ^_^
i love you videos..-
I use Retin A and it works great for me.
It helps prevent black heads from forming and so far Ive seen very good results. As far as the whole sun exposure goes, well lets put it this way….as long as your not outside for hours…I'm talking several hours I'm sure you'll be fine.
Besides you normally have to put it on at night and wash it off in the morning.
You need a quality moisturizer, something less gunky than the Clean and Clear product. I'd suggest going to Bath and Body Works and checking out their C.O. Bigelow product line. You should be able to turn the product around to the ingredients list and the first one listed should be water. Water based moisturizers should be thinner than other gel-based moisturizers, and they won't clog your skin. C.O. Bigelow even has a few moisturizers with salicylic acid in them, a great pore unclogging ingredient. I'd suggest a shine-control formula, or something with white clay as an oil absorbing ingredient, to help you with the 100 degree heat even though you may or may not have oily skin.
Unfortunately, product line is too often overrated. Look at the ingredients. I'm sure your doctor prescribed you for something with salicylic acid and possibly benzol peroxide. These most often can be sold over the counter and are used for spot treatments mostly.
There are a few tricks you can do to make sure you're getting the most effect facial washing each time. Before washing your face, I'd soak a washcloth in very hot water, wring it out, and let it sit on your face for two to three minutes, keeping it as warm as you can stand it. This will naturally allow your pores to relax and expand, making them easier to unclog. Make sure you use the warmest water possible to wash your face to keep them expanded.
When using your basic facial cleanser, apply your cleanser and wash as normal, but then spend 3 times as much time rubbing in the product slowly. Treat it like a massage. Remember that the skin is an organ. Pressing and stretching and massaging it causes it to fluctuate and breathe in different ways. This will allow the cleanser to soak into your pores, and also allow buildups of oil and other sediment to be released from your pores. Washing your face should take about 6 to 8 minutes.
Moisturizing is completely necessary. It replaces the oil, sweat, and sediment in your pores with vitamins and minerals, and gives your skin more natural flexibility and resilience to the elements. It would be a good idea to have moisturizer on hand throughout the day, and you could safely apply it maybe 4 times a day. With the right moisturizing product, it definitely helps the appearance of scarring, acne prevention, and evening skin tone.

Actually too much cleaning can dry up your skin and clog your pores causing infection to clear up unless you put moistureizer on it to get rid of the dead skin cells, but even with that you still have oily skin…i know where youre coming from i have the same problem but acne and oily skin is not caused by not washing your face and dirt build up…its actually caused by toxins in your body and regardless of what everyone says, YES it is caused by what you eat and drink. Try to avoid sodas and foods with lots of sugar. And drink lots of water, water helps to clear the skin of oil and ance, getting rid of the toxins your body tries to recycle. You should wash your face with a soap free foaming cleasner twice a day and use a non oily moisturizer afterwards to clear away the dead skin cells. There is a remedy i tried and cleared my face of oil and acne in 3 days but it does require a few sacrifices. if you would like me to tell you more about this email me at kmprats@uh.edu
There are different skin types and you should treat your acne accordingly. Tens of products out there that claims to combat acne. I tired a few. Some making my skin to dry and then coming sensitive.
Use products that are for your skin type. If you have oily skin then whatever product you buy make sure its not oil-base. As in the milky looking ones. DO NOT get anything containing soap even mild! Soap takes too much oil away and makes the skin tight and sensitive which can also produce acne.
I've got oily skin. I use a Garnier refreshing gel cleanser (without soap) mornings and before sleep. Sometimes i use it after I've exercised a lot or be out on hot days. Don't let those pores clogg up!
If you have combination skin then only put the cleanser on parts that are oily and an oil-in-water emulsion cream on the other parts. If you wash your face with a cleanser and the whole day your face doesn't feel oily and tight then you don't need cream.
Things to avoid doing: Don't pick on your face. Eat a balance diet. Drink lots of water.
My acne has lessened by doin this but really depends on your skin type
i have the perfect method to get rid of ur acne [i now have a clear complexion and im soo glad my strategy worked. it took 1 week to work! now clear skin!]. first i'll tell you some info. acne is caused by hormonal imbalance. so to get rid of it you must do things that help you internally, and a little bit of external . now…
you MUST do all these steps.
1. buy this multivitamin from walmart [generic brand of women's one a day]. it contains zinc, vitamin a, b, c, e. these are all good for the skin. and it calms down the hormone levels too, and cleans out the system.
2. this part is really important too! buy green tea bags [or the green tea loose leaves]. dont get the nestle or lipton or w/e its called tea. make sure they dont add sugar or other crap in it. green tea is great for acne b/c it balances hormone levels detoxifies the system. it clears up the complexion also. yes, most green tea has caffeine which isnt good for acne. so put a green tea bag in a cup of water and leave for 1 min [this is de-caffeinating it] then rinse out cup and fill it up with hot drinking water and put the bag in. at first you may not be used to drinking tea, so drink 2 cups of tea the first few days. then increase the amount of cups you drink until you have 5-6 cups of tea a day. trust me, green tea is the answer! after doing this you will love green tea and you'll probly substitute it with water.
3. at the end of each day when you're done with the green tea, run cold water through the green tea bag, then place on face if you have any inflammation of the skin. hold it against the inflammation for as long as you can- the longer the better. it relieves the redness well. but only doing green tea externally isnt good enough so make sure you do it internally too! [#2]
4. in the middle of the week, in the shower make sure you exfoliate your skin. dont be rough with your skin when exfoliating. you dont want to make your skin more inflamed. exfoliating is helpful b/c it opens up pores while cleaning them out. it helps a lot with clogged pores [bumps that are just THERE to annoy us]
5. at the end of each week, right after the shower [make sure its RIGHT after, when your pores are still open from the hotness] apply queen helene's mint julep masque onto face. it shrinks pores, dries up pimples, smooths out skin and rinses away blackheads. it really makes your skin feel so soft!
6. make sure you are using a toner or astringent. a good one is witch hazel. companies always put it in cleansers b/c it is really good at eliminating extra oil without over-drying. witch hazel is found near the alcohol section in stores like target, etc.
7. also make sure to have a moisturizer with spf 15 or higher. if it has no spf 15, the sun will darken acne scars. i use olay complete all day moisture lotion with spf 15.
8. change pillow case every two or three days. make sure phones are clean.
crap, i forgot about the aloe vera plant . it should be around #4 or 5.
if you ever have a popped pimple, apply aloe vera. [cut off a leaf and squeeze out juice and apply on skin] it will heal it in 1-2 days, depending on how often you put it on throughout the day. its really effective and regenerates new skin cell growth 10 x faster than it takes for the body to do so. they have aloe vera in almost every nursey like orchard supply or home depot, etc.
